About Me
I am David Smith, and I believe that every swimmer’s journey is unique. With over 18 years of experience teaching thousands of children and adults how to swim, I’ve learned that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to swimming lessons. Each student begins their journey from a different place, and that’s why, I take a personalized, flexible approach to every lesson.
Throughout my years of teaching, I’ve seen firsthand that generic, cookie-cutter classes often create unnecessary bottlenecks in the learning process. A strict, one-size-fits-all curriculum can hinder progress and leave swimmers feeling frustrated or overwhelmed. That’s why I focus on breaking away from rigid structures and adapting lessons to fit each individual’s needs.
By creating a relaxed, supportive environment—where having a friend in class or taking a step back from stressful skills is encouraged—I help swimmers build the confidence they need to try new things at their own pace. This approach allows students to feel more comfortable, progress faster, and ultimately achieve their swimming goals, whether that’s overcoming fear, improving technique, or mastering new skills.
I understand that every swimmer has different goals, and what works for one person may not work for another. My priority is to identify the best approach for each individual, helping them make steady, enjoyable progress while developing a love for swimming that lasts a lifetime.
